🪷Buddhism Basics: Practical Intro
Free course introducing Buddhist philosophy as a framework for understanding experience.
Buddhism emerged 2,500 years ago addressing a question: Why do we suffer, and what can we do about it? The Buddha's answer was an analytical framework for examining experience and changing your relationship to it.
This course introduces that framework without rituals, beliefs, or religious requirements.
What you'll learn:
✦ How Buddhism actually developed (historical context)
✦ The Four Noble Truths (diagnostic framework for suffering and its causes)
✦ The Eightfold Path (eight areas of practice translating philosophy into daily life)
✦ Core principles: impermanence, non-self, interdependence
✦ How these ideas inform modern meditation and contemplative practice
This is for you if:
✦ You're exploring meditation and want to understand its philosophical roots
✦ You're curious about Buddhism without religious framing
✦ You want to know what Buddhist concepts like "emptiness" or "non-self" actually mean
✦ You're studying philosophy or contemplative practice
Course format: Self-paced modules in accessible language. Free access, no prerequisites.
Training & Qualifications
I've studied Buddhist philosophy for 30+ years across multiple traditions: Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana with my primary focus in Madhyamaka. I've worked with teachers in Asia, India, and the U.S., studying both textual analysis and practical application.
My approach emphasizes Buddhism as a philosophical and psychological framework rather than religious doctrine. I present the teachings in accessible language without requiring belief adoption or religious identification.
This course draws from classical texts and their interpretation through contemplative practice. The goal is understanding the framework, not conversion.
