Welcome to the Simbi feature changelog — a plain-language timeline of the improvements, fixes, and new features we've shipped for the Simbi community. Newest changes are at the top. We're a small volunteer-run nonprofit, so thanks for your patience and for being part of the Symbiotic Economy! 💛

🔧 2026/06/03 — Fixed changelog formatting to match the hand-curated style.

📦 2026/06/02 — Download your data. You can now export a personal copy of everything you have on Simbi — a friendly, browsable web page plus machine-readable files and your photos, with options to pick exactly what to include.
📍 2026/06/02 — Fixed location search & saving your area. Searching for a location and updating the zipcode/address on your profile work reliably again.
🔧 2026/06/01 — Fixed "I can't edit my profile" errors. A bug was causing some members' profile saves and other actions to fail. Squashed.
📰 2026/06/01 — Fixed the activity feed & matching. Recent Activity shows correctly again (tabs, dividers, and the matching game), and search no longer errors on heavy browsing.
📸 2026/06/01 — Fixed avatar & photo uploads that were failing for some members.
🔐 2026/06/01 — Modernized social logins. Updated Google and LinkedIn sign-in to those providers' latest standards (the old versions had been retired). Facebook and Apple sign-in continue to work.
💬 2026/06/01 — Smoother error handling. Forms now show a friendly message instead of silently failing if something goes wrong.
🏠 2026/05/31 — Simbi moved to its own servers! We migrated off Amazon Web Services onto a more affordable, independent host — cutting our hosting costs dramatically (helping us stay sustainable as a nonprofit) with no change to how you use the site, and zero data loss.
🤝 2026/05/31 — Fixed sending offers & starting conversations. Resolved a bug that prevented some members from contacting new people or sending proposals.
🛡️ 2026/05/07 — New anti-spam defenses. Layered protections against spam signups and abuse: smarter signup checks, duplicate-account detection, automated moderation, and behind-the-scenes scoring. Hundreds of spam accounts were cleaned up.
⚡ 2026/04/27 — Major platform modernization. We upgraded Simbi's underlying technology (a long-overdue update to the language and framework Simbi is built on) — improving security, speed, and reliability across the whole site, including a faster, modernized search and better reliability monitoring so we catch issues before you notice them.
📝 2026/04/26 — Your work is now preserved if a page reloads or hiccups mid-edit (form auto-save).

🔐 2025/02/02 — Added Google signup & sign-in. One more easy way to log in.

📅 2023/11/21 — Exact posting dates. Services and Requests now show exactly when they were posted.

2022

🌍 2022/09/29 — Added Bulgarian to the language menu (member request).
✨ 2022/09/15 — Fresher front page. Front-page listings limited to members active in the last 6 weeks (member request).
👤 2022/05/22 — Last-active year on profiles. Member profiles now show which year they were last active (member request).
📪 2022/03/30 — Bounce protection. Members whose emails bounce now have their services hidden automatically.
💸 2022/03/04 — Send simbi to Orgs. Improved the "send simbi credits" function — you can now send to Orgs.
🛡️ 2022/02/25 — Spam discouragement. Made user profile links "nofollow" to deter SEO spam accounts.

2021

💸 2021/12/23 — Send simbi by username. The "send simbi credits" function now shows usernames.
✉️ 2021/11/03 — Email signup is back. Re-allowed email-based signup (with verification) for new members.
🙏 2021/10/21 — Dismissible recommendation requests. Members can now dismiss recommendation requests from other users.
💸 2021/10/19 — Send simbi credits! Launched a Venmo-like feature to send simbi credits to other members for in-person or previous help.
🏅 2021/09/14 — "Helping Hands" badge. Launched the volunteer badge for Simbi Volunteers.
👀 2021/09/06 — Un-hid old-but-active services (listings are still hidden after multiple unanswered inquiries).
📬 2021/08/02 — Newsletter opt-in. Added a "Monthly email newsletter" choice to member notification settings.
🌍 2021/07/06 — Read Simbi in your language. Added internationalization via Google Translate, plus the ability to block unwelcome or spam messages.
💛 2021/06/05 — Officially a nonprofit. Updated website copy to reflect our 501(c)(3) status.
🧭 2021/03/04 — Navigation updates — easier to find settings and help.
🏅 2021/02/24 — Simbi Expert badges (beta). Expert/Top Expert feature & badges released.
🔧 2021/01/19 — Fixed Leaderboard live updates.

2020

🏢 2020/11/10 — 45-day Free Trial for Standard Orgs (optional); member & Org bonuses adjusted.
🍎 2020/10/05 — Apple ID login. Added Apple sign-in; the Simbi app was updated and re-published in the App Store.
🚀 2020/10/03 — Simbi Projects launched! Projects are available to Simbi Supporters and Orgs.
🔗 2020/05/14 — Cleaner links everywhere. Updated link structures for personal accounts, Orgs, and Groups to make navigation easier.
📊 2020/03/10 — Simbiotic Economy stats. Statistics are now available to all members at simbi.com/economy.
🏢 2020/01/03 — Simbi Organizations are live! Both Standard Orgs that any member can create, and Non-profit Orgs that over time become Simbi's "central banks," creating simbi credits to reward their volunteers.

💛 2019/09/12 — Simbi Supporter badge. Members can contribute to the parts of Simbi's operations we can only fund with dollars — see current Supporters.
