I will endeavor to facilitate you learning much of the basics about aquaponics starting with 1) how hydroponics works and some of the common setups 2) the basics of aquaculture and 3) how adding aquaculture changes the common setup and 4) most importantly many of the balancing trade-offs for marrying aquaculture to hydroponics 5) advanced setups with sump's and waterfall chains 6) as well as some of the regulations and pitfalls for aquaponics in Alberta. It will wet your appetite for more and start you thinking about additional systems like wicking beds, vermiculture/vermicompost to create worm tea, using duckweed, using solar, and permaculture. This information exchange can be facilitated over Skype.
Training & Qualifications
I have been running an aquaponic system for 5 years (aquaponic in the summer, aquaculture in the winter) and also run an indoor hydroponic system (with aquaculture water). I started with 15 Tilapia, exploded to over 100 Tilapia and currently have just under 40. I have probably committed every error there is but have learned from every single one. I am an old school hacker at heart and love to see how things work and rebuild them better :)
