I'll recommend my favorite haunts to check out food and fun in the Charleston metro area. First secret- a lot of the reasonably priced stuff is in or near the rapidly growing Summerville, South Carolina.
[Random historical tidbit on Summerville, SC:
Summerville was where the rich would go in the summer to minimize mosquito exposure (because there was more on the coast... more swamps, etc..) ]
Another tip: Mt. Pleasant & downtown is the expensive area. Could also help you brainstorm cheaper options for staying in such a unique Southern city. Could tell you and link some addresses to some great hole-in-the-wall restaurants with EXCELLENT food.. I'm a big fan of ethnic food. And macaroni and cheese. And a lover of art.
