Because people ask why I talk about it;
Personally, I've never believed that things happen for a reason. But I do believe we can take the things that happen to us and use them to better someone else's life. So I talk about my experiences- it doesn't change them, make them go away, or make them any worse. Occasionally I feel the shame and stigma of having been a victim for so long. But if that's the only cost to me to help someone else? That seems a worthwhile price.
