Help me understand art
I am looking for someone passionate about art—whether you're an art historian, a practicing artist, or an avid gallery-goer—to help me move beyond "I like this" or "I don't like this." I want to deepen my appreciation for visual (and not so visual) arts by learning how to actually look at/feel a piece.
I am specifically looking for help with:
- The Basics of Analysis: Understanding composition, color theory, and lighting....
- Contextual Clues: How to identify different movements (Renaissance vs. Impressionism vs. Contemporary) and why the era matters.
- The "Why": Learning how to interpret the emotional or political message behind a work.
- Curated Discussion: Perhaps we can "visit" a digital museum gallery together and discuss 3–5 pieces in detail.
Format: I’m open to a 1-hour video call (Zoom/Google Meet) where we break down specific paintings.
Experience Level: You don't need a PhD! If you can explain art in a way that is accessible and engaging, I’d love to learn from you.
