I will make sure your text is clear, flows well and respects the conventions of standard English! As a type A person with so much attention to detail that it actually annoys some folks (true story!), you can bet I'll catch all those stray punctuation marks and spelling errors! English is my first language and I've studied both literature and linguistics, so you can bet I'm on top of my writing game!
The amount I can edit hourly will depend on how much work the text needs, but as an example, a 8-10-page essay could typically be done within a single hour. If it's a doctoral thesis, I'll definitely be needing a few more hours! For short items less than a page long, feel free to send me a few of them at once, as an hour would be plenty of time to do several of them.
Please note that I'm Canadian and I do normally write with all sorts of "U"s in places that Americans don't put them. But I can switch it off and I'll make sure to do the appropriate conventions for wherever you're located (and/or whoever your intended audience is). :)
Training & Qualifications
I have been proofreading for academics for 8 years, including once saving a linguistics student from making a huge error in his Doctoral Thesis and almost failing his defense! I have a strong attention to detail and am well-versed in international standards of spelling and so on (I am Canadian and work frequently with American and British English). I have a graduate degree in linguistics and an undergraduate degree in English literature.
Availability & Preferences
Weekday daytimes are usually best for me (I'm in the Eastern time zone, same as NYC and Toronto).
